About SharePoint Scotland
This site is a public information service site provided as a repositry for quality links to some of the better sources of information on the web with regards to key areas of SharePoint 2010 that interest me including workflow, business intelligence, customisation and branding.
Currently, working for an oil and gas seabed-to-surface engineering, construction and services organisation here in Aberdeen, Scotland I help provide SharePoint Business support to over 9000 staff including SharePoint design, development and training. My current focus is on leading a SharePoint Training program for a range of users around the globe.
In addition my interests are primarily with SharePoint branding and customisation, online SharePoint with Office365, workflows, Forms Services with InfoPath 2007/2010, cloud computing and Microsoft Business Intelligence with SQL Server 2008 and PerformancePointServices.
I have been working with Microsoft technologies for over 15 years since completing Computing at the The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. I have worked with Microsoft SharePoint 2003/2007/2010 since 2005.
SharePoint 2010 - Best Practices and GoTo Sites
For over 10 years SharePoint has been the most popular product in the business world as organisations try to introduce collaboration among teams, disciplines and projects. They soon realise how large and big an impact it has on the business; SharePoint 2010 is not just about technical knowledge, business processes and solid information architecture planning is required to implement the product successfully. SharePoint 2010 can be broken down into many products and the product itself is as much a platform as it is a product, for example:
- Web Content Management
- Enterprise Content Management
- Web Analytics
- Enterprise Search
- Business Connectivity Services
- Business Intelligence
- PerformancePoint Services
- Excel Services
- Visio Services
- Office Web Apps
- InfoPath and Forms Services
With so many different mechanisms built around one platform it’s imperative to get it right. I try to find Best Practises and quality information sites to better understand how to use SharePoint more effectively.
